Those members of our Ministry Team who conduct funerals always hope to meet with the bereaved family to discuss their ongoing need for support and will, whenever possible and if wanted, visit after the funeral to see how things are going. We have one fully-trained Bereavement Visitor who, when requested, can then visit people who are finding their grief and loss difficult to cope with. Each person has such different needs at this difficult time, so nothing is hard and fast.
We are delighted also to be involved in an ecumenical approach to Bereavement Support involving the other churches in Shoreham, most of whom provide some sort of follow-up of people who have suffered a bereavement. This means that sometimes a request for support will be forwarded to other members of the Team if this is more appropriate. A leaflet about this service around the Shoreham churches is available in the church porch, and these should also be available in various places around the town.
In the meantime, if you feel the need to talk to someone about a recent loss, please don't hesitate to contact Sally Excell by phone or email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 01273 455712.
