Seventeenth Sunday after Trinity

Generosity Sunday

9th October 2022

'Get up and go on your way; your faith has made you well.' Luke 17.19. See Bible commentary below. Image by Revd Jess.

We shall be joining in with the Church of England’s Generosity Week with a special Sunday service on 9th October. This is a time when we reflect on the generous God we believe in and how generosity is at the heart of our faith. We welcome Revd Andrew Smith, the Generous Giving Adviser from the Diocese of Chichester, who will preach for us. The church is currently running at a monthly deficit, and we shall pray that we can find ways to overcome this financial challenge.

Gracious God,

you call us to fullness of life:

deliver us from unbelief

and banish our anxieties

with the liberating love of

Jesus Christ our Lord.

Find Your Voice for Christmas Our singing workshop on 24th September, led by vocal coach Linda Glenn, was a great success. We had 22 participants from COGS, SMDH and the wider community. We had a lovely harvest festival lunch. Thanks to Lesley and Barry for all their hard work in preparing soup and apple crumble. It was a happy time of food and fellowship, and it also raised £50 for church funds.
