Palm Sunday

2nd April 2023

We remember Jesus’s triumphal entrance into Jerusalem on a donkey at the 10am service this week. We are delighted to have a donkey with us for the procession. The service begins in the hall. There will be a blessing of the palms, and weather permitting, the children will enact the Gospel reading for us on the church lawn. We then process around the block with the donkey. This is a 10-minute walk. Those who don’t wish to walk can wait in the church.  We hope you can join us for this special family service.

Our Palm Sunday donkey, Leo, comes from East Clayton Farm, a local charity supporting vulnerable people of all ages through land-based activities. If you would like to make a cash donation, a basket will be available. You can find out more here: www.eastclaytonfarm.org.uk/home

Palm Sunday Lent bread and soup lunch Those who have booked for our Palm Sunday lunch, please bring your own crockery, cutlery and glass. You will need a bowl for soup, side plate, bowl for dessert, two spoons, a knife, and a glass/cup. Big thanks go to Lesley Ward for the catering.

True and humble king,

hailed by the crowd as Messiah:

grant us the faith to know you and love you,

that we may be found beside you

on the way of the cross,

which is the path of glory.

Fellowship Lunch 16th April

We enjoyed a delicious lunch and happy time together last Sunday but return to our usual 3rd Sunday in April. This leaves only a short time to collect names as it is the Sunday after Easter, the 16th.  It is great to include new people as well as existing members. If you would like to come please speak to me or Michael and Chris as soon as possible.

Electoral Roll Revision This is the time each year when we revise our electoral roll. If you have been worshipping at our church for at least the past six months and are not yet on the electoral roll, do take a form and sign up. There is a notice on the main door of the church with full information about the electoral revision and forms are at the back of church. Being on the electoral roll enables you to vote at our APCM, and it is also a sign of the health of the church. Please speak with our electoral roll officer Jenny Stride for more information.

Easter Sunrise Service

We are excited to have a sunrise service on the beach for Easter Sunday. Wrap up warm and bring a camping chair or rug and torch. Coffee and light breakfast follows in the hall. If raining, we will be in church.

And finally…

‘We are delighted to report that the wheelchair (donated by Dr Jacky) arrived safely in Uganda last week. The attached photo shows it newly arrived at Daniel’s house. By the time you read this, it may well be in use by Annet, a woman in her 30’s who is unable to walk and for whom the wheelchair was donated.  Our thanks go to all in our church and community who contributed to the £150.00 cost of shipping, with Daniel, via Ethiopian Airlines’. Julia Fowles and Tony Thompson.

I work half-time and the days I am usually available are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday (morning).  Blessings, Revd Jane
