First Sunday Services

We hope that all our worship is easy to follow, but know that when you do much the same thing each week it's very easy to slip into 'jargon' and 'this is the way we do things here' which can be confusing to newcomers.

So, in August 2009, we started to have a special service at 10am on the First Sunday of every month which we hope is easy to follow, a little shorter and is designed to appeal to people of all ages. As many people in the church family really enjoy sharing Holy Communion (the bread and wine) together, this service will often be a Communion Service, but we will use the most straightforward form of words that the Church of England allows. Of course, if you're not used to sharing Communion it's not a problem at all, because you can either stay in your seat at that point, or come up with everyone else and have a blessing instead. In some months, we will not share Communion, but will have a straight service of songs, prayers, readings, a talk, and perhaps some drama. Most of the words we will say and the hymns we will sing will be projected up onto the wall at the front, but there'll always be some paper copies handy in case you can't see.

If you're coming along to church for the first time, or after a long break, you might find this is the best service to start with. The choice is, of course, up to you, and you will get a warm welcome whenever you come along. And if you're bringing children with you who are over 3, then our Ten O'clock Rock Team will be ready to welcome them in the Church Hall if they'd like to join them.

A health warning: there will be some months when the pattern will be different because of other festivals going on (like Mothering Sunday or Easter or Harvest) - so it's best to check what's going on in any particular month. Please see the "All the News" section on this website.
