Good Shepherd Sunday
8th May 2022
We look forward to welcoming Archdeacon Martin Lloyd Williams at our 10am Sunday service, presiding and preaching. This week we are celebrating Good Shepherd Sunday, a time in our church calendar when we remember that Jesus descibed himself as the good shepherd. It is also an opportunity for us to celebrate the life of our own little church on the beach and give thanks. There is a community lunch in the hall at 12.15pm, for those who have already booked. We hope you can join us for the service, or lunch, or both!
Collect
Risen Christ,
faithful shepherd of your Father’s sheep:
teach us to hear your voice
and to follow your command,
that all your people may be gathered into one flock,
to the glory of God the Father.
Readings
Acts 9.36-43, Psalm 23, Revelation 7.9-17,
John 10.22-30
APCM Our annual parochial church meeting took place last Sunday. Thank you to everyone who came along. We welcome our new church wardens Kay Haffenden and Angela Tritton, and our deputy warden Penny Humphrey. We also welcome new PCC members, Adam Tinworth, Glen Edey, John Haffenden and Jill Charlish. A big welcome too to Nix Cuthell who is a new deanery synod rep.
Shoreline The latest issue of our church magazine is available in the church porch.
Incumbent Vacancy Update The closing date was the 18th April and applications were received by Bishop Martin. All is on target for interviews in May although a decision will not be known for a few weeks afterwards.
Christian Aid Week 2022, May 15th to May 21st We are selling tickets after the 10am service for the Big Brekkie which will be on Saturday May 14th from 9.30am until midday. £10 per adult and £5 for children under 11. (This includes all breakfast items and drinks. GF and Veg included). We would appreciate taking bookings and payment before the event so that we have a better idea for ordering food and to secure your place at this previously very popular event.
Messy Church Our next Messy Church is Saturday 21st May, 3pm to 5pm. Please help spread the word. We explore the theme of ‘friendship’.
Ascension Day on Mill Hill
We celebrate Ascension Day with a short reflective service at Mill Hill Nature Reserve, followed by a bring-your-own picnic breakfast. We meet at the upper car park on Mill Hill at 8am on Thursday 26th May. Bring a camping chair or rug. Please lift share, walk or cycle where possible. If the weather is wet we will meet in church – a message will be posted on the church website on Wednesday evening if we are to meet in church.
And finally…
I work half-time and the usual days when I am available are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday mornings.
Blessings and prayers for you all this Eastertide. Revd
